event } ya gotta be a dolphin
WHO: All the little fishies!
WHAT: An underwater adventure
WHERE: Kupra City, or you can stay on Navi if ya want
WHEN: Dec. 20-Jan.2 16
WARNINGS: Use ‘em in your threads if needed! And if you end up taking an extended dip in the big drink, please report it on the death page.
[Hello, passengers! Hope you're all ready for an announcement, 'cause Navi's voice is getting beamed into your head right about ... now.]
Attention, passengers.
We'll be landing soon on the planet Umora, at Kupra City.
We'll be docked for two weeks, local time.
Please stand by for atmospheric entry.
[Is it just your imagination, or does Navi sound more tired than normal? Either way, it's now time to BUCKLE IN, CHAPS. It's not a particularly rough landing, just your standard amount of turbulence, though it may seem a little jarring to those who aren't used to space travel.
Upon docking underwater and disembarking, passengers will find a bank counter just past the terminal, where your new windfall of Navigems can be exchanged for credits (the universal currency).
Have fun! And do try not to drown … ]

Richard Strand | The Black Tapes
For Kankri
[There is a pull in his mind.
It's strange but he remembers what alex says It pulses gold when you need to find your partner and that...that makes him think of when he accused her of it being sexual.
Woops.
So it's psychic? His mind in turmoil, he stands in front of a door - and knocks.]
no subject
Needless to say that being a little more than paranoid by all these things, a knock at his door would have been ignored normally. That being said, his body was already standing and his hand already betraying him by opening the door and standing
almostface to face with a human. "...Yes? May I help you?" he asks, turning his eyes down to the reacting glyph on his hand. Oh. Well. The question still stood.no subject
Richard takes in the horns and the slightly grayed skin and he raises an eyebrow before holding up his glyph, "...My apologies. This - I was told by a friend that this meant I had to seek my "partner" out."
He dropped his hand and stared at him, "I'm...I suppose that is you. I'm Doctor Richard Strand."
And he was going to call him that. Let him maintain some of his dignity.
no subject
"Oh, I see." Kankri's voice was light and at least in that way understanding in its tone. Thinking it may be something along those lines, he wasn't sure what to expect but 'Doctor' wasn't one of them. "A doctor you say? Of which profession? I've never met a human doctor." Moving out of his own doorway, Kankri offered for him to come in. At least the company would take his mind off of their situation.
no subject
"I study the human mind. Or any mind. Do you have any tea? Or if you'd like I could go back to my cabin and bring some. I'm...unsure of what this partnership is supposed to entail."
no subject
'Any mind' sounded like he was trying to be inclusive at least, which was impressive. Then again this looked like it might be an adult human, too. "Tea..." he knew that one. That was a term he had learned, easily enough. "Ah, no. I can't say that I've had time to do more than settle in. I haven't been here very long... As for this-" There was a gesture, just a general one, indicating that he wasn't sure what to call it either, "-Partnership, I'm not certain either. Though I'm certain you would have broached the topic, rather than telling me you're as unsure as I am, I'm unwilling to allow any of this to turn into anything more than companionship. I won't be forced into relationships." Better terminology than Quadrants. "So far we share a love of the mind and this 'tea'. Do you enjoy literature?"
no subject
If offered, the moment he does, he'll nod, "I have written several books and I love reading. Though I tend to mostly write novels about ghosts and demonic entities - disproving them. Other than that I'll read anything. Voraciously."
no subject
The topic of the books were a little amusing and it got the smallest of smiles from the otherwise stoic lips part hidden by his sharp overbite. "My, then I do dare say we have a lot in common in more general terms, as well. Mind you I don't think you read the same language I do, and also disproving ghosts is... Well." He crossed his legs, eyes looking over to the side as he thought about how to put this. Once he had it, he turned his eyes back toward this partner. "What would you say to someone who had actually spent time with ghosts?"
no subject
He waves a hand, "But I don't blame people, or aliens, or anyone for thinking it is. There is always an explanation for them in any capacity. So I say delusional in the nicest terms. It's not what people think."
This is him being nice.
"Though I'd need to hear more about it to ascertain just why you've spent...time with ghosts."
no subject
"Well, the answer is quite simple in that I was dead up until I got here. We were all dead." The ship, however, had other plans for him which were evident from the yellow sclera and slight red tint to his iris instead of the glowing white that he had seen for a great many years let alone that he wasn't sure how many any more. "That's the long story short of it, I suppose. In that way, I guess you could say you're talking to a ghost. However, I can't say it's the most content of memories to relay to a stranger."
no subject
A thought crossed Richard's mind. Was he dead? Did he crash on the way home from Alex? Was she dead? That thought made his heart twist and he waved it off.
"...How...Did you die?" a pause, "Is that a rude question? Are you - corpreal? I mean can you be touched? Pass through walls?"
no subject
and rightly so.He had just said it was a touchy subject, but if this man was writing thesis against it, maybe he should know. "I don't suppose it's rude as much as hard to tell." In fact, in many ways, it was everyone's fault but directly his own. If anything, the man really had taken his mind off of being under the water at least. Kankri, for once in his life, was quiet as he looked down at the neatly crossed intersection of one knee over the other and slid his hands over the kneecap that sat on top. "I'm very much corporeal." While he spoke, he offered out the hand with the calming blue colour of his glyph with the silent inference that his hand, free of his kneecap, could be touched. "As for how I died..."
That was a difficult one. "In summation—" which had him pause again, not for dramatic effect, just to really consider if it was summation. "For our betterment which I almost firmly believe was their intention, one of our teammates killed all of the remainder of us." That was pretty accurate without the gritty details he didn't think the poor stranger needed. "We would have been otherwise wiped from existence and likely our race with it if it hadn't happened in that direct order. It doesn't make it pleasant, I don't know that it was the lesser of two evils. But." He punctuated in matter-of-fact manner, his eyes finally coming back up to meet the other man's a little more conversationally than they had previously. "It's the truth at least." There had never been any reason to hide any of it, not even within the dream bubbles either.
no subject
The latter slips out and he shakes his head, "I'm sorry that's rude of me. All of this...I'm an academic I'm curious. Is this something that a - what are you exactly? A troll?"
A pause.
"I can arrange a trade for this information."

"Ah, you must be but recently arrived." He commented as he spied Strand not far ahead doing his best wary cat impression.
Murmur, for his part, wasn't particularly striking. In fact he was so unremarkable it was almost unnatural. Average height, dressed in a way that would make him look most at home in some middle school library somewhere. Covered head to toe, including gloves which might have been odd in a warmer environment, but surely it was nothing. The most striking feature being unusually vibrantly green eyes, and perhaps a little too pretty, but even that was subjective.

Gardens and being out in space, "You're obviously not."
no subject
"I have been here some few months, nearly five I believe? Do you require any assistance, any questions left unanswered?"
no subject
"Are we prisoners here?" Mostly his concern was getting Alex off and back to earth...somehow. "There's a lot of this ship that seems like that."
Prisoners. Trapped in space, "Also no libraries? Seems a bit prison-like if you ask me."
no subject
So, no, not really prisoners. Still trapped, which isn't much more enjoyable but is at least less malicious.
"The lack of books is simply that, we are welcome to obtain whatever we so choose and can afford on the various planets we've been stopping on to restock. I believe the lack of a dedicated library has more to do with the Navigator's intended design, rather than a desire to kill us with boredom."
Even if the latter might be on the table, all things considered.
no subject
Perhaps that was why Alex had the items she had.
"We get money to be here? Are you sure this isn't some sort of an experiment?"
no subject
"We are presently enroute to meet with the other escaped Navigators, who have access to a method of return hidden among their number. Navi produces a byproduct which is exchangeable for currency, we are provided with... I suppose one could call it an allowance upon landing." That part he does huff a faint hint of mirth at, the first sign of real inflection or emotion in his tone thus far. He speaks very, very monotone.
"Fascinating as it would be if that were the case, I am quite certain we are not. Primarily because upon our immediate arrival Navi was in the process of being shot down." That was certainly an interesting way to wake up.
no subject
"Perhaps we could go and find some tea and I could ask you some questions. I have a friend here I want to make sure is all right, and she has friends here that I would also like to make sure are...all right."
Still. The opportunity to examine other worlds...
"Are these dangerous? These worlds? Are weapons provided to us?"
no subject
Ah, a good question. "Thus far? Largely not, though the previous world did result in a nearly disastrous run in with an entity known as the Twig Man. Two passengers among us identified it as being similar in nature to the urban legend Slenderman, if you are at all familiar," Murmur isn't, but he sure has been having fun learning. "As for armaments Navi is not equipped with an armory, that isn't to say they are unavailable. Typically you should be capable of finding something for purchase on the worlds. I would also suggest looking into clothing, you are only provided with what you have arrived with."
After all they weren't exactly expected guests. He'll let Strand decide if they should separate and reconvene somewhere more comfortable or just make their way elsewhere.
no subject
He's not going to sleep in his suits. The notion is abhorrent and perhaps that's where Alex got her clothes because she wouldn't have been caught dead in that back home.
He thought.
Even though he barely knew her.
"I think the cafeteria has earl gray if you would be all right with that, unless you have something you recommend Mr..."
no subject
Which was to say they were likely to be there a decent enough amount of time to finalize any shopping, and a decent amount of information gathering. There was time yet for Richard to outfit himself decently comfortable, though he may find it difficult to find his preferred fashion.
"Murmur, no mister necessary. And that should be more than sufficient. I am looking into procuring a local blend that seems to be similar in nature to oolong, but have not yet found a supplier I am satisfied with." It's an implied offer, for later, should Strand choose to take tea with him again another time.
"After you." Of course he doesn't expect Strand to recognize his name as anything but a strange choice, so far no one else has. It would seem that more esoteric knowledge was not widespread, despite a greater availability.
no subject
He considers, "Can I say, I'm actually excited to experience this? He glances around, "Despite my trepidation, the science behind all of this must be fascinating."
