[ If anyone has been looking for Lucifer for the past several-ish days, he’s been totally incommunicado. Not around the ship, not in his cabin on floor 2, not responding to any messages left for him. But he’s not gone.
Now he’s back, in fact! Today he’s in a cabin, and he’s… shirtless. And his hair is a bit mussed, bordering on curly, rather than its usual perfectly-coiffed state. You’re welcome! And, frankly, he looks a hell of a lot more relaxed than he did the last time he showed his face on the network - he’d been almost manic before, a slightly sharp edge to the smiles that never quite reached his eyes. Now, however, he’s chill. Easy. The smile is maybe less bright, but more genuine, the corners of his eyes crinkled with it. ]
If there’s still anyone suffering from an inability to speak, I have a suggestion to make! Have you tried orgasms?
[ He looks very smug about something. And then a female voice can be heard off-camera, one that no one on the ship will recognize except for Miss Lopez. An exasperated “Lucifer!”
He only looks more smug, if that’s possible. ]
Right. Coming, Detective!
[ See what he did there? And he turns off the video feed before anyone can catch a glimpse of the mysterious Detective. ]

Dan. [ And then she has to take a deep breath, legs drawing up under the sheet as she wraps her arms around her knees. Chloe leans in to rest her chin on an arm. ] He came to the penthouse.
I was using the bathroom for a moment.
When I came out, he was there with his gun pointed at you… [ Her brows furrow, remembering. ] It’s the only thing I can think of for why he’d — shoot you. Why he looked so — so scared. Terrified. Panicked.
He had to have seen your devil face. But — how? When? Maybe… maybe it was… [ she breaks off on a scowl, ] — Michael.
no subject
But then she says the name Michael and he sits up again, face darkening. ]
Bloody buggering hell, so that twat did show up? When Miss Lopez said I was acting strange, I was afraid...
[ He reaches out to cup Chloe's cheek, his expression a mix of anger and concern. ] He didn't hurt you, did he? Try to get into your head? He's always enjoyed doing that.

[ Ah. Right. She’d kissed his brother, more than once. Thinking it was him. At least it had never gone further. Chloe clears her throat, cheeks feeling warm; now, now she’s leaning out of his touch. ]
Everything was fine.

[ Yeah, now his mind is going places. Places he doesn't like. Michael was clearly impersonating him, so how far was he willing to take it? How far did it go before Chloe realized what was going on? He knows his twin, like most of his celestial siblings, couldn't care less about humans, or harming them, if it would achieve his ends - whatever those were. ]

Anyway. We get inside, put our things down, and then they came in. We were outnumbered and ducked down behind the counter. I got a few shots in, they got theirs. Moments later and all I hear is: hello, bad guys— [ Damn rights she even pulls out the fake and chipper accent. ] —and there y— there he comes in to help.
It was you. I thought he was you. I thought you were back. From Hell. That you somehow knew where I was, that I needed the extra help. Because you… sent that demon, before.
S-so when all was said and done, I… We kissed.

I swear to Dad, I’ll strangle him with his own intestines.
[ Not for touching her. For deceiving her. For touching her under false pretenses. For taking away her choice in the matter. ]
But you figured it out. Of course you did. Apart from the fact that you’re brilliant - [ He leans forward, presses his lips to her bare shoulder. ] - I’m sure he’s rubbish at kissing.
no subject
Are you asking me to compare you to your brother when it comes to kissing?
no subject
Absolutely not. I already know I’m superior to him in every way.
[ He trails his lips lightly along her shoulder, just because he can. Because she’s beautiful, and she chose him for some reason. ]
You, uh. You hadn’t been… recently kidnapped?
[ He offers that after a moment, another of Ella’s tidbits. ]
no subject
Then she pauses at the question, leans back to look at him. ]
Kidnapped…? [ Chloe makes a face. Who would be stupid enough to try and kidnap a detective. ] Not… that I know of…? Wait — someone actually kidnaps me?
no subject
So, I think whatever Daniel did - or is going to do - it won’t be fatal, or even serious. It sounds as if Miss Lopez is from farther in the future than you. Also, she was dating a serial killer? But apparently he wasn’t your kidnapper.

[ The sheet slips to her lap as she twists to properly look at him, brows deeply knitted. She reaches then, fingers going to his neck, pressing to his jugular to feel the reassuring kick of his pulse, again and again and again, alive, strong as ever. ]
Lucifer, you had no pulse. You weren’t breathing. You were… you–you were gone. [ Just gone. Again. Somewhere where she couldn’t follow. Again. ]
… a serial killer…? [ this she echoes faintly, disbelieving, distant, like it’s taking her a few extra moments to catch up. ] Ella was?
no subject
[ He frames her face gently between his hands. ] But it doesn’t matter, because we’re here, now, and it’s going to be fine. One way or another.
no subject
Is this a bad time to bring up that your brother also had a lot to tell me? [ Chloe worries the edge of her bottom lip. ] Something about God’s Gift.
no subject
Uh. He did?
wrecked by imagine dragons — fuckin me up
But, hey, [ Chloe slides her hands up to rest over his before her fingers curl to hold them, bringing them down, ] it’s okay.
It took me a while to really understand what it all meant; we’re okay. We’re going to be okay.
[ Then she leans forward to bring their faces close, murmuring quietly, ] You have Amenadiel to thank for that.
;-;
Relief flashes across his face - and with relief, he of course starts babbling. ]
In my defense, I’m not sure at what point I should’ve pulled you aside and said, “by the way, Detective, I’m pretty sure my Father engineered your miraculous birth for the sole purpose of messing with me.”
definitely a chloe song for between 4 finale / 5 premiere
I know. I understand that it was… probably not the easiest bit of information to have knowledge of or explain. But you can bet your ass I was furious.
Yis ;-;
At my Dad, I know, so was I!
[ Right???? And not Lucifer!!! You couldn’t be mad at Lucifer! ]
😭😭😭
[ His cheek gets a gentle but firm patting. ]
no subject
So I owe Amenadiel a thank-you at some point? He, what, stuck up for me?
[ He and his brother have come a long way in the past few years but he’s still not sure he buys the idea of Amenadiel actually taking his side in anything. ]
no subject
And, yes, absolutely. You owe him a very big thank you. [ She takes a slow, deep breath. ] I thought that my entire life was, well, basically a lie. That every decision I made, I didn’t make it. It was already made for me, like something pre-made.
It was more than that, and we have him to thank.
no subject
[ Yeah. YEAH. He’s intimately familiar with that feeling. ]
no subject
no subject
[ He says that sincerely. ]
I - I suppose I kept it from you because I didn’t want that for you. You deserve to make your own choices - and you do.
