Video (un: gr€€d)

[There's that second of shaky-cam when Mammon starts up the video and the camera focuses. Once again it's his selection of items, or rather wares: everyday items like knitting needles and typing paper, a typewriter, nail polish, a skein of yarn, something that looked like a metal lacrosse set, a blank book and a pen. There's clothing, several sets in different styles and sizes, a set of men's boots, a large fur cloak made of a single wolf-pelt. There are a few more dangerous items too, bullets and a shotgun, various knives. The camera lingers on each item for a moment, showing it off, as Mammon speaks.]

This worked out so good last time I thought I'd try it again! I'm sellin' all this stuff to anyone who's got somethin' to buy it with. There ain't a lotta cash on board so if you got none, maybe we can trade. Or ya can owe me somethin'.

Oh -- and since space is boring and I'm such a nice guy, I'm rentin' out some of my own stuff. [He pans to another set of items, grouped together on their own: a deck of playing cards, a set of dice, and a handheld game console.] Make me an offer and I'll let you take one of 'em for... I dunno, let's say a day.

[Damn, way to take another trick away from him, Lady. He flashes her a sour look before he pulls.]

9 of Clubs! Ehh, that ain't too bad!

[She's feeling pleased with herself for thinking of that. Enough so that it's hard to keep her face neutral as she draws her card. Even hard to keep it from falling completely as she stares at the Ace of Hearts.

Rolling her eyes she flips her card so he can see.]

Guess I owe you next planet.

Damn, you didn't even try lying! You are really bad at this!

Next planet you're buyin' me dinner!

[Her eyes narrow.] Just because you would have doesn't mean I have to play at your level.

If that's what you want, I get to pick the place.

Sure, do that if you don't wanna win!

Yeah, all right, but you gotta eat there too. Ya can't just send me to the grossest place and make me eat stuff you'd never touch!

It doesn't mean anything if it's empty.

[He's free to take that as he wants. But she likes annihilating and destroy her opponents. She takes a step closer.]

I'm curious how you think you'll be able to make that happen.

[He instinctively takes another step back.]

Hey, I won the bet, I'm the one who gets to make the rules here!

I like to annihilate and destroy. Lying doesn't get me that.

[That's a good sign as she takes another step a small grin forming.]

Is that what you think?

Wrong! Just depends how you do it.

[What is this? This human is too intimidating for his liking and he gets affronted as Lady forces him back.]

Y-yeah, it is! You don't get to push me around! [Despite the fact that she is literally doing just that.]

Oh I do it very well. [She means the destruction part, fully aware that he probably means lying. And outside of demons, she tends toward speaking truth. It doesn't do anyone any good to sugarcoat things.

Her grin grows a little wider. Poor baby, can't handle the big bad devil hunter backing him up again.]

I seem to be doing a very good job of it though.

Yeah, sure. [He may sound less than convinced but is still backing up.]

You're lucky I don't eat ya, you know!

I do.

[At that her grin turns taunting. Just keep backing up Mammon the wall is so close now.]

I've told you before, I'd love to see you try.

[All right, he'd take this sort of treatment from one of his brothers or Diavolo but he's not taking it from a human. He frowns and stops, instead grabbing Lady and hoisting her up to carry her out the door.]

Not here ya don't! And you'd probably be all stringy anyway!

Hey! [That is so not fair. You're not supposed to just pick her up that's rude. And seeing as she doesn't trust him to not just drop her without any warning she wraps her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck.]

I'm not stringy.

[She was the one trying to scare him in his own room, which is also temporarily his place of business! He has a right to remove a troublesome "customer."] You started it!

And I bet you are!

[Who said anything about trying she was outright succeeding.] I still have to pick out the clothes I want.

And I'm not. Some of us actually workout.

Nuh-uh, you observe the merchandise from a distance and I'll give it to ya! [She also has to let go of him. Once he steps through his open door into the hallway Mammon moves to drop Lady, and thanks to her hold on him absolutely nothing happens when he releases his arms.] H-hey, let go!

And that's why you're stringy!

How am I supposed to pick anything if I can't inspect it closely? [she tightens her hold on him when he tries to drop her. Pressed even tighter to him to keep from falling unceremoniously on her ass.] No.

I'm not stringy!

You can look at 'em from here! They're clothes, not diamonds!

[Way to make this not fair, Lady. Mammon tries to shake her off, getting more and more irritated that she's barnacled onto him.]

Yes you are!

Doesn't mean I want to risk that they have crappy seams by selecting them from here.

[Not fair? What about this isn't fair? She holds tight flexing her muscles to keep from losing her grip as she hands fist in his shirt. Her voice low in his ear as she responds.]

I am not.

You either pick what ya want from here or ya get nothin'!

[The unfair part is he was trying to kick her out and now she's stuck on him! So he can't go inside again either and this is... very uncomfortable and awkward.]

I bet you'd be like eatin' an old boot!

Do I get a refund if they fall apart?

[He was going to fail at kicking her out the moment she walked into his cabin. So he'll just have to deal with her being stuck to him at least for now. Eventually, she'll have to let go if she wants to keep him from getting the wrong idea.]

Not like you'd ever have the courage to find out.

No! No refunds!

[Okay, he is done with this. Lady has been pushing him ever since she first laid eyes on him and he didn't even do anything to deserve it! He'd never stolen from her or hurt her in any way and he's getting sick of this so he just. Pushes her into the wall.]

Why?! Why do ya want me to kill you so bad?!

Well, that's just not fair.

[Well not since she laid eyes on him the first time. Just since she tried to slit his throat. And the reasoning is pretty straight forward isn't it? Demons only destroy and hurt, better to stop them before they have the chance to hurt anyone else. And then he's got pressed into a wall and has to quickly silence a soft moan. Her cheeks pinking lightly as she realizes he probably heard that.]

YOU'RE not fair!

[It's a stupid comeback but that doesn't stop it being true. Lady hasn't been fair at all to him and it makes no sense. Sure, he's a terrifying demon (he thinks), but what has he actually done to anyone here? Is she just pushing him around to feel strong? Is she --]

Wh--

[Mammon leaps back and pushes her off almost simultaneously, shocked. After a beat he starts laughing.]

Haha, are ya doin' all this 'cause you think I'm handsome?
