WHO: All y’all
WHAT: A nice vacation to ease everyone in
WHERE: Various locations on Alkonost Island, including Navi
WHEN: Sept 12-30
WARNINGS: Use ‘em in your threads if needed!

Welcome to Alkonost, the beautiful tropical island on the planet Tetagari where you have just made an emergency crash landing! You’ll be here for a while, so settle in and get cozy with your new shipmates until Navi is repaired and ready for takeoff.

Alkonost is a small island with an eponymous beachfront village, with the rest of the land covered in tropical rainforest, dry forest, and grasslands. Most of the land is still wild, as the Alkonost population is centered at the beach, though ancient ruins can be found a bit more inland. Alkonostians are a humanoid, amphibious people, with light green skin, gills, and webbed fingers; they are friendly and welcoming to tourists, business contacts, and intergalactic refugees alike.

Speaking of business, the main exports of Alkonost are various types of fish, shell jewelry, and a unique, dark red pearl that is only cultivated in the waters surrounding the island. These red pearls are highly prized on other islands and provide the bulk of income for the Alkonost population. They’ve also recently attracted a band of pesky pirates, which has taken to raiding export ships and even the pearl farms themselves, on occasion. Warning signs are posted near the shoreline and will be explained by locals if asked.

While visiting, you can elect to work as part of a fishing or pearl farming crew, or with one of the island’s fruit collection squads, and you’ll be paid daily in fresh fish and equally fresh fruit. For necessities of the non-consumable sort, the village open-air market is open every day for all of your shopping needs. Otherwise, grab some sun on the beach, dance and sing around bonfires at night, get to know your fellow passengers, or just chill on the ship and get to know Navi.

All of this was stupid. Every bit of it. Being on a space ship? Stupid. The people that were on the space ship? Stupid. Crash landing on a foreign land? Oh that was just double stupid. Triple if there was a count on the stupids he had already laid down. Quadruple if he counted other things he had seen that day. Back home he would have found the biggest baddest and burned them to a crisp, but it wasn't as easy as doing that and disappearing into the night anymore. Also, by the way, stupid.

The people that lived on the island reminded him of Spinner and being the only one to show up out of the entire league? Stupid. Especially since Toga probably would've loved some of the things that he saw in the market. Their market wasn't so bad. In fact, he could be found at some stalls, taking a look at a few things, trinkets that he wouldn't admit were likely for her. His unlikely 'family' that he had been so roughly thrust into in his life deserved a few nice things.

Mister would have loved a lot of this crap, too, more like he would have liked stealing it, but Dabi didn't know how long they'd be on the island and didn't favour being stalked down the whole time. Not yet, he probably would end up nicking a few things before the end of their journey, but certainly not this time.

The other places he could be found were food stalls or small seating areas he could sit and eat the food in. Despite his monstrous appearance, he still had to eat. His favourite was probably just walking on the beach with his boots off in his opposite hand, letting the water hit up to his ankles. If someone was careful enough, they might catch a moment of weakness and him bent over to help a creature back on to its scuttle-y legs so it could get back into the water instead of ending up on its back, dying on the sands. Or maybe it was supposed to be on its back? Oh well, it went in the water anyway.

Whatever he got found doing, likely he would find the motif and consider it stupid.

Jack wouldn't argue about this whole situation being kinda stupid, but she's just spent the last three years in a neon hellscape, so at least the scenery is different? It's actually almost refreshing to be on a beach, where the horizon isn't blocked by skyscrapers.

She can do without all of this sunshine, though. The market provides a nice escape into shade (her natural habitat), so she spends a fair amount of time browsing even when she doesn't need to buy anything specific. Today, though, there's one item in particular she's determined to hunt down. And hey, she recognizes Dabi from the ship (hard not to, he doesn't exactly have a forgettable appearance), so why not strike up a conversation while she's here?

"I don't suppose you've seen any journals for sale around, have you?"

Smart thing, not to argue. Especially with someone like Dabi who's arguments went one of two ways and one of those ways was specifically one of the ones he didn't want to go down the road of.

Dabi was half way to thinking about pocketing one of the trinkets that he had been spying for Toga when he heard the voice behind him. "Journals?" There hadn't been much in the way of him looking for that kind of thing to begin with but he had seen at least something that looked like it might have paper inside of two covers. "What'd you want a journal for?" Instead of directions to where the item might be.

“People usually want a journal to write things in.” There’s a hint of a smile on her face, but it’s hard to tell if it’s sarcastic or sincere. Jack’s just Like That.

“I figured I’d stick with tradition, but I’m open to suggestions.” She shrugs.

The expected roll of his eyes was what she got for that, but at least she was half way funny. "I suggest not keeping a journal, that's a paper trail." Half true, half false, he also might have just attempted a joke, but he did jerk his head upward toward the direction he had just come from.

"Think I saw something noteworthy this way." If she followed, that was up to her, but he was going back anyway. There was nothing else he really saw at the moment he wanted to consider nicking and he wouldn't be best to do it in front of strangers.

Crash landing is certainly not something that ranks high on Emet's list of things to do again. Nor had it been anything that had ranked high on his list of things to do in the first place. Not that there's anything much he can do about it now, of course. But as beginnings go, it's certainly not auspicious. Even if the ship they'd found themselves on is supposed to be able to repair itself.

(Which he's not entirely sure he believes, but it's not like there's much of a choice, either.)

"Taking in the scenery?"

There's not much else to do, of course. But that hardly means that he can't ask.
