you're riding with me.

WHO: OPEN to all passengers.
WHAT: General mingle log for the first part of the month, including new partner pairing stuff.
WHERE: Navi, all over.
WHEN: Now until the next event (Dec. 6-19).
WARNINGS: If things get messy and/or upsetting, please put warnings in your comment subject lines! And if you absolutely can't keep from strangling your new partner, please report it on the death page.

Hello, passengers! Today begins just like normal, but it’s far from an ordinary day. On this fine point in space-time, passengers will notice a little something different when it comes to the glyphs marked on the backs of their hands.

They're glowing. The light is a deep shade of blue, and it's slowly blinking on and off. Maybe it's searching for something? It's entirely possible, because affected passengers will also feel a gentle tugging sensation that stops once they've come face to face with their partners. The glyph will switch to glowing a steady blue once partners are synced with each other, and they'll be able to communicate telepathically with each other, too.

Have fun getting to know each other a little better! Or, you know. Yelling at each other. Just try to keep the murder to a minimum, OK?

Julia Bellamy has been uncharacteristically quiet over the last few days. It’s weird when there’s someone in your head and then suddenly that someone is gone. It’s an all too familiar feeling in her gut: abandonment. Julia’s abandonment issues tend to run fairly deep like an empty well within her. While knowing that she should have reported it to the network and taken Isaac from her list, Julia didn’t. Instead what she tried to do was to fill that deep well up with booze. It takes a lot for her to get drunk thanks to that whole werewolf metabolism thing so when hers isn’t enough to do a suitable job for long enough, she goes to Isaac’s cabin and raids his booze as well.

Isaac was her partner; as far as Julia is concerned what had been his now belongs to her. That’s the only good thing about this whole fucking situation in her opinion.

When she finally ventures out of her stupor, Julia kind of looks like hell. Her hair is a greasy, knotted mess at the top of her head and her eyes have a glint in them that’s far more animalistic than human. When she gets to the kitchen, Julia just growls. “Move.”

Azem has been an elusive addition to the ship in the weeks since her arrival, largely remaining in her quarters or, more recently, wandering alongside Emet-Selch, obscured by the cowl of her robes and the mask on her face. Today marks the first time she's ventured out on her own, and while she does still wear her mask and robes she decides to leave her cowl down as she leans on the counter, watching her coffee drip, drip, drip painfully slowly.

The growled demand earns a brief, disinterested glance from the corner of her eye and nothing more.

"No."

Someone else might have been intimidated by the armor and the glowing but this Julia Bellamy who told an actual god to stop being such a fucking dick. She’s not intimidated by anyone. More than that, Julia is spoiling for a fight. She’d missed the one to get Jon back because she’d been unfortunately turned into a child herself so this is seeming like an opportunity.

“Now.” The growl in her voice is definitely more menacing and animalistic—it’s coming from a set of vocal cords that are decidedly inhuman. There’s a flashing in her eyes as Julia’s pupils extend downward, becoming more animalistic in her blue eyes.

“I won’t tell you again.”

Inhuman was something she had long since grown accustomed to. Hearing it here and now is curious, though hardly intimidating.

"Good." She rolls her eyes, willing her coffee to brew more quickly. "Now you can go tell someone who might give a shite."

Julia is just getting more angry now. If she was in wolf form, her lips would be curled back in a snarl. At the moment her lips are almost doing the same thing giving a harshness to her pretty face. It’s a sneer of anger, and it’s definitely dancing along her skin as she just moves forward to attempt to hip check the woman.

[personal profile] ancestor 2020-12-16 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
The woman will find her hip check ineffective, rebounding off a shimmering shield of energy only visible once made contact with. Azem's response is another roll of her eyes as she sets about pouring herself a mug of her finally finished coffee, then flavouring it with cream and sugar she creates from thin air.

She takes a long sip of her coffee, paying it far more mind in a single moment than she has to the other woman during the entirety of their encounter.

"If I throw you a bone will you stop being a nuisance, or is this just an oh-so-charming personality trait of yours?"

[personal profile] relance 2020-12-18 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Julia just lets out an extremely loud growl when she bounces off the shield, and the anger in her boils upwards and over searing itself throughout her skin. Every nerve ending is at high alert, and Julia Bellamy has always been someone who is entirely fight and never flight or freeze in that response, and it's something that's been even worse since she's been on the ship.

(In actuality it's been worse since she'd eaten the president, but Julia doesn't like to think about that if she can help it.)

"Oh, I bet you think you're fucking hilarious don't you. I'll take a god damn bone out of your leg if you're not fucking careful." Julia means it--well, at least she means that she will definitely try to do it even if it's not something that she's actually going to be able to do. She'll try and do it to the death if she has too, because fuck this woman and this ship and everything else.

Azem shifts, turning around to lean her hip against the counter, casual as can be as she finally levels the woman with a bland look. After a second sip of coffee she dips the tips of her fingers into the mug as though she's holding the end of a spoon while she stirs. She slowly pulls her hand from the mug, pulling an adult-sized fibula along with it, all while maintaining eye contact.

(Somehow, she manages to keep a straight face.)

[personal profile] relance 2020-12-22 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)

Julia does not keep a straight face. Julia doesn’t keep her face at all. Instead she just shifts into a white wolf with bright blue eyes. She steps out of the mass of black clothing that she’d been wearing and she just growls again, showing all of her teeth.

ancestor: (Default)

[personal profile] ancestor 2020-12-22 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Her mood shifts as quickly as the woman's form, shield of irritable disinterest turning to one of unrestrained delight.

"Oh!" Azem exclaims, spilling some coffee on herself as she gesticulates, pointing the bone at the woman-turned-wolf. "How delightful! I've not seen such a fluid transition in centuries!

"You've even got the correct anatomy—most never get the slope of the incisors accurate, nor the curve of the canines, let alone remember the carnassial teeth!"

[personal profile] relance 2020-12-24 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)

Julia is....confused to say the least. Extremely confused and she just stares at the woman with a growl low in her throat. Her teeth are bared and she’s ready to bite if the woman gets too close to her.

Damn it all she wants to do is fight what the hell is wrong with this woman!

ancestor: (Default)

[personal profile] ancestor 2021-01-04 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
With a small shake of her hand she turns the fibula into a tibia, holding it out for the wolf-woman to grab if she likes.

"How many bites does it take you to crush the tibia of an adult male? The wolves I'm accustomed to require three, on average."

Julia just sits back on her haunches and if it’s possible for a wolf to scowl she’s definitely scowling with every fiber of her being. While she loves to show off very dearly one thing that she doesn’t want to do is perform tricks and this definitely seems to be a trick like thing that’s for sure.

So Julia moves quickly and seamlessly to her feet with all of the wolf grace inside of her and she snaps her teeth next to Hem’s thigh. If she wants a demonstration, Julia will give her one and it won’t be on a bone that doesn’t belong to her.

[personal profile] ancestor 2021-01-05 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
The woman is welcome to snap her teeth all she likes—Azem can simply maintain her shielding. (Or, if she's particularly cheeky, shapechange her leg away.)

"For all that you've a masterful form of a wolf, you certainly are less well researched on their behaviours," she comments, barely refraining from another roll of her eyes. "Unless starving, threatened, or ill they are quite dignified, civilized creatures."

Her created bone is still held out as a silent offer, though Azem doesn't expect the woman to take it. "I had thought you would be able to manage in less, but if you don't think you can manage it you needn't be pissy with me."

Julia growls because she’s not a fucking real wolf. She’s a god damn werewolf and that’s not even really the point. The point is that she’s not going to be performing for this woman. So instead she shifts back into her normal self, albeit a self who is entirely naked and doesn’t give a fuck about that.

“I’m not trying to be a wolf, you dumb bitch. I’m a werewolf and I’m not preforming for your stupid ass.”

Aside from appearing visibly disappointed Azem is not particularly concerned by the display, though she does politely look away from the woman's nude form. It has been a difficult enough adjustment to see people roaming without their faces or forms obscured in some manner, let alone nudity, which is something she has always known to be reserved for intimacy.

"So, are 'werewolves' a more uncivilized variant of the common wolf then?"
relance: (Do not even think about it.)

[personal profile] relance 2021-01-19 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Julia's eyes glisten when Azem looks away from her naked body, and it's almost as if someone has handed her a pretty and particular sharp knife. Well, if she can't actually hurt the woman in one way then she's definitely willing to make sure that she is uncomfortable as possible. Being an asshole comes quite easily to Julia Bellamy, and she's intent on making it as obvious as possible when she has too. Right now, feeling like she has to is definitely a huge thing. She's not going to apologize to anyone for it either.

Sometimes she really does in fact need her puppy.

"Werewolves are fucking people who end up with wolves inside of them. For better or for worse our baseline personalities are human. Sorry your stupid alien ass doesn't like us." Julia actually doesn't know what other werewolves are like because the only one that she'd ever met was the one who had passed her the wolf inside of herself and

She keeps her eyes carefully averted, feeling more out of place than she has thus far in this tiny void-faring ship. Apart from anatomy lessons, the only nude female she has ever seen has been herself. It wouldn't be inaccurate to say she's far more familiar with the opposite sex. Fortunately the majority of people seem perfectly content with wearing clothing, which is—in retrospect—a great relief.

"How does a fucking person end up with a wolf inside of them? I've never heard of such a thing." Azem repeats the woman's curse back at her, though there is no heat to it. Mostly because she hasn't any idea what it is.

"I am human. And my people would never seek out wanton violence or cruelty unless suffering from an affliction of the mind."

Like the flicking of a switch she stands up straight and proud, turning her head to meet the woman's eyes with all the radiant dignity of one who once held the seat of the sun. They are small, subtle changes in how she holds herself, and the end result is the aura of a seemingly irreverent young woman shifting into that of an ancient being chosen to help represent her people.

People who she has failed most grievously. People who are all dead, save for herself and two others.

"So, are you suffering?"

If Julia was someone else, then perhaps she would have had some sort of reverence or something for the changes that the woman is making in herself, but this is Julia Bellamy who has seen some of the worst parts of humanity, and she'd killed people who weren't quite gods, but who definitely had more power than most humans. Her hands twitch a bit, and her eyes are narrowed and more animalistic than human. With nothing but contempt in her tone, Julia takes a step closer and doesn't blink. "Humanity is suffering. Anything that you think otherwise is wrong and stupid."
