you know i won't let you get away.

WHO: OPEN to all passengers.
WHAT: General mingle log for the first part of the month, including new partner pairing stuff.
WHERE: Navi, all over.
WHEN: Now until the next event (through Feb. 20).
WARNINGS: If things get messy and/or upsetting, please put warnings in your comment subject lines! And if you absolutely can't keep from strangling your new partner, please report it on the death page.

Hello, passengers! Today begins just like normal, but it’s far from an ordinary day. On this fine point in space-time, passengers will notice a little something different when it comes to the glyphs marked on the backs of their hands.

They're glowing. The light is a deep shade of blue, and it's slowly blinking on and off. Maybe it's searching for something? It's entirely possible, because affected passengers will also feel a gentle tugging sensation that stops once they've come face to face with their partners. The glyph will switch to glowing a steady blue once partners are synced with each other, and they'll be able to communicate telepathically with each other, too.

Have fun getting to know each other a little better! Or, you know. Yelling at each other. Just try to keep the murder to a minimum, OK?

Completely normal. Ah hell he's already lost the plot hasn't he?

"True enough, a soul is not a necessary component." He's still deeply disturbed by the presence of artificial intelligence. Especially after meeting the extraordinarily hostile and dangerous Head. There's a strong possibility he hates robots now, still undecided.

"You have my apologies, though in my defense I never claimed to be human, I have simply allowed the disguise to stand as it is intended. I understand your disagreement with the deception." It is necessary, though at least with Kankri admitting it is probably not breaking any rules. He thinks. Kankri isn't technically human after all. He nods. "Agreed." If he wants to know why the deception he'll have to ask, but Murmur will answer.

One hundred percent, but luckily for him Kankri only judged people who forced his mask off. In fact, his words could cut deeper than any weapon and he was glad he hadn't had to use them. They shared the need for robots to maybe be a little less prevalent but that was likely for different reasons and for different outcomes.

"Oh, I see. You're claiming a lie by omission, or rather just not being up front." That wasn't a question. Kankri was as far from human as things got at one time and the tilt of his head that moved horns on the crown of them told the story on its own. "While I condone the agreement, I also can't agree with treating other species with kid gloves. What catastrophic plague would descend upon our poor minds from being honest?"

Murmur would probably be impressed to see him in action. He himself was not gifted in word, instead in action and careful planning and execution of shady underhanded manipulations. None of which were necessary here, so he was finding himself somewhat adrift without purpose.

It was... disturbing. But not something he was going to burden his new friend with.

"Correct," Which, while the distinction was thin it was still necessary. He will agree that it isn't perhaps the best method to conduct himself but it has been one born out of need. That comment earned a laugh, but it was one of tired mirthlessness. Of absurdity. "If only that were true! Were that I did not have to weigh myself down with this fragile vessel and it's continuous upkeep. Dancing around words and laws that are outlandishly outdated. Unfortunately in the case of humankind specifically the catastrophes have been great. Even today thousands of years after we'd pulled ourselves away and faded into nothing more than fiction for them they still reverberate the damage we inadvertently caused. It is by necessity we hide."

Kankri at his full potential was either nightmare waiting to happen or a nightmare waiting to happen. If that nightmare was in the direction of the thing or person that deserved it was up to chance and luck and his mood. The Blood Player could be among one of the most dangerous in ways that were unlike the physical ones.

At least there was honesty at that point and it looked as though his body language belied that he appreciated it. His arms weren't as crossed tightly over his chest and also, despite that normally he would've spoken up, he listened quietly. Lately, here, where no one knew him he had more room to do the sort of thing he wanted to begin to learn to do.

"That sounds ludicrous." he summarized, sighing softly. "If you had such a hand on humankind which definitely denotes we are not from the same world, then you should have used that power for guiding them once you ruined them. How foolish to step back at that point and leave your--your being a generalized construct, not you specifically. But leaving your mess for someone else to clean up. Really, if you're an enlightened being, it sounds like you've cosmically broken the last nutrient plateau and didn't wish to have been found out for the fallout of what you wrought. 'You'--" enjoy the momentary air quotes before he crossed his arms again, "Being generalized again. You're referring to a 'we' and therefore, though I feel nothing but abhorrent to do it, I must use a broad brush."

Lifting his finger, he stood with one of his hips to the side, a comfortable look for him, "However. I'm not here to judge, but it is definitely not an excuse for treating them as though they're incapable. They were capable of understanding what happened to be their downfall, they would be understanding of what they needed to correct their behaviour. Don't treat all of us here as though we are cut of the same cloth from past failures that shouldn't weigh on one single individual as though it's your fault specifically when you refer to a 'we'."

Murmur would still be interested in seeing that. Being what he is, and what he's been, nightmares aren't that strange to him. Very little could genuinely frighten him, but to find his new partner had the capability would be both exciting and novel. Angels are weird, especially angels bordering on the all-seeing.

"I do not disagree," Murmur gestured somewhat dismissively, though there was a weight of exhaustion in his tone and manner when speaking about this that went far beyond the physical. The weight of someone bashing their head against the brick wall of a system that was utterly unyielding. "I am but one voice against many, a scholar among warriors. As I am sure you can imagine they are not often inclined to humor alternative viewpoints." The warrior types weren't always great at nuance, after all. And tended to be very stabby about dissonance. "It's a complicated situation. Political, more than a little... xenophobic at times. Calling us 'enlightened' may be excessively generous." Kankri got one of the patient and not zealous ones.

Again, that dismissive gesture. "Broad is acceptable, I am not one to shirk my own responsibility in the matters at hand. However, my personal function is one that had taken me quite far from the mortal realm for quite some time. There are those who continue to act as guides and guardians albeit in a much more subtle capacity than once we did. There are laws in place, now, laws to which we are bound no matter how far we go within the universe."

He shrugs, somewhat helplessly. "I am not permitted to openly volunteer my identity. Should a mortal guess at it, however, it is within my rights to confirm their suspicions." He's using loopholes to get around restrictive laws without technically breaking them. It's a pain, but also covers him from reprisal. Murmur would very much like not having his wings ripped off after he just got them back, thank you.
