event } ya gotta be a dolphin

WHO: All the little fishies!
WHAT: An underwater adventure
WHERE: Kupra City, or you can stay on Navi if ya want
WHEN: Dec. 20-Jan. 2 16
WARNINGS: Use ‘em in your threads if needed! And if you end up taking an extended dip in the big drink, please report it on the death page.

[Hello, passengers! Hope you're all ready for an announcement, 'cause Navi's voice is getting beamed into your head right about ... now.]

Attention, passengers.
We'll be landing soon on the planet Umora, at Kupra City.
We'll be docked for two weeks, local time.
Please stand by for atmospheric entry.

[Is it just your imagination, or does Navi sound more tired than normal? Either way, it's now time to BUCKLE IN, CHAPS. It's not a particularly rough landing, just your standard amount of turbulence, though it may seem a little jarring to those who aren't used to space travel.

Upon docking underwater and disembarking, passengers will find a bank counter just past the terminal, where your new windfall of Navigems can be exchanged for credits (the universal currency).

Have fun! And do try not to drown … ]

By now Murmur's aware of her presence, but not about to bring attention to her. Not even when she tries to sneak closer, he makes no move to call her out nor intercept.

Once she finally crept close enough to be seen the shark-like man, for that was what he appeared to be upon closer inspection, startled. Dragging himself quickly to his feet, muttering uncertainties he made for a hasty retreat now that whatever had been afflicting him seemed to be mostly out of his system. For the moment Murmur remained crouched, merely looking up at Lady with an unreadable expression.

"Merely granting a second chance," Now he finally moved to stand, straightening his long sleeves back into covering his arms properly as he turned to regard her. "Have you been following me?"
sinkthe8ball: (you don't say)

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-01-25 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she couldn't stay stealthy forever she supposes. And if she's honest it's probably for the best the shark-like man finally makes a break for it. If you could even call it that at any rate.

"I've been looking for something," she says with a tilt of her head as she studies him. Eyes narrowing when she meets his eyes. Oh! Well, that was something useful at least.

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about one of the wealthy locals beginning to give all his wealth away suddenly would you?" What is beating around the bush?
albatrossomen: (Gray wings)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-01-28 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
It is for the best, Murmur just hopes that he takes his advice and makes it to a clinic fairly soon. He may have staved off the worst for now, that didn't mean the man didn't still require aid.

"Have you?" He might have almost sounded innocent enough, if he didn't speak in such a persistent monotone. Hard to get a read on whether or not he was asking in earnest, sarcasm, or playing the fool.

"Ah, he did have quite the change of heart regarding his business practices, didn't he? Remarkable, really." Oh, yes, he knows. So that's what she's here for, one of the greedy buzzards must have sent her his way.
sinkthe8ball: (you think so)

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-01-31 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Her eyebrow goes up. She's going to play that as he's intentionally playing the fool, so many of the demons she's run across do that when she gets them where she wants them. Though if she's being honest this is far from an ideal position for her if he is who she's looking for.

"That's one way to put it." Yes, she is definitely playing along for the moment. She may change her tune though at any point. Especially once she becomes sure he's the reason she's hunting a shipmate. Though this can all be cleared up quickly with the right questions and answers couldn't it.

"He did. Any thoughts to why?"
albatrossomen: (Fallen)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-01-31 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh he's not really playing the fool, he absolutely answered her question honestly and would continue to do so. Even though he's quite aware given her current demeanor and attitude that she's none too pleased with his altruistic works.

"Oh, plenty, but you are not here for my hypothesis. Though I must confess I am confused as to what, precisely, the problem is?" A greedy leech of a man has decided to have a change of heart. Honestly one would think that would be a good thing.

Except other greedy leeches.

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-01-31 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
To be fair it wasn't exactly described to her as altruistic. Greedy leeches are good at spinning stories to make them the victims when the need arises and to them, the need has arisen.

"To his family, a lot is wrong with what happened."
albatrossomen: (Green eyes)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-01-31 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it wasn't, and of course they did. After all, in their view they were robbed of what was rightfully theirs. By bloodright or some such nonsense.

"Oh? Do tell me what crime I have committed, I'm very interested in knowing what the leeches have to say on the matter of their father's opened eyes."

Yeah he did it, so what? Absolutely zero shame over here.

She'd be mad too if she was supposed to inherit something other than a complete freaking mess from her parents. Actually, she was mad about the mess too, nevermind.

"Other than diverting his money to other recipients?" Though she's guessing by his words it was actually charitable donations as opposed to someone taking him for a ride. She hates being duped and rolls her eyes.

"I'm guessing you convinced him to start making hefty donations to good causes which is a lot more than they were willing to say," she rolls her shoulders, "I hate when they don't give me a clear picture when trying to get me to take a gig."
albatrossomen: (Ice magic)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-01-31 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, certainly, their anger is understandable. It is, however, unjustified. Money made out of the blood and souls of your fellows is not money one should desire to hoard.

"The decision to alter his business practices was entirely his own. I simply offered a little insight he had been without before coming upon his crossroads." He Scrooged him. Though, Murmur does offer her something of an apologetic smile. "It would appear you've been sent on a hunt for vengeance that is not yours to bear. Of course, taking me out will hardly change what has been done. A heart changed of its own will is not one that will return so quickly." He doesn't influence their will, only offers information.
sinkthe8ball: (of course)

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-01-31 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
That assumes they care about that sort of thing. Most don't unfortunately. Not any more than those who covet power doing whatever it takes to gain it.

"Lucky him." Note to self never reach a point where she needs his insight. That sounds a little more ominous than it should, though that might just be the monotone talking. "Isn't the first time, won't be the last. It will be however the last time they send someone looking for the monster that changed their Father." Let it never be said Lady was too good to lie to liars about the completion of a gig on a planet she wasn't likely to be on for very long.
albatrossomen: (Default)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-01-31 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
They don't, and that's why they lied and sent a monster hunter after a "ghost" that convinced their father that altruism is a good idea. The pathologically greedy do not have a "too low".

A pity! He can be terribly helpful sometimes. But only to those who want it. Granted she's not completely wrong about it being ominous. Sometimes it absolutely is. "Oh?" He canted his head to the side slightly, curious, and offering the faintest of amused looks. "In that case you have my gratitude for refraining from completing the hunt. If need be I can play dead quite convincingly." Too convincing, it's very creepy, don't ask him to do it. While not fond of lying though he may be, this is one of those situations where the deception is warranted. And if she grifts them in the meantime well, he'll just pretend he didn't notice.
sinkthe8ball: (you don't say)

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-01-31 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It's almost too bad that she hates being jerked around. Well for them anyway, she's going to take them for all she can in the meantime. Call it repayment for her time if you will.

Chances are he can't help her right now unless he knows how to send people home and isn't saying anything because he's enjoying all this universe stealing and sightseeing. "That'd be useful since they want some sort of proof of the job being complete. Though how they expected me to have proof of exorcising a ghost I have no idea." Yep, she's going there. Play dead for her Murmur and let her try to hide how creepy it is. That'll be a fun thing for her to purge from her memory later if nothing else.
albatrossomen: (Fallen)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-01-31 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh does he get to watch? That's going to be a delightful show. If anyone deserves it, it's them.

He knows how, get Navi to their destination. Unfortunately there isn't any expediting the process, so they might as well enjoy themselves in the meantime. He hums thoughtfully, folding his arms. "To convince them that I am exorcised rather than some stranger might be more difficult. After all it isn't as though spirits have corporeal forms. Dead I can absolutely do, whenever you require." It's bad is she sure she wants this? "Should we add some illusion, some ethereal light?" He hasn't actually gotten to play up the supernatural angle in a while it might be fun.
sinkthe8ball: (of course)

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-01-31 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Most likely since he'll present in his fake death. She is good at giving decent shows when the mood strikes her.

Not what she meant. "Well maybe if you didn't do your memory wipe thing so well I'd have an easier time making them believe you have a flesh and blood body to murder." Why does he have to make her job difficult? More specifically what is it with the supernatural never doing what she wants? Dante, Mammon, and in a slightly different sense now Murmur. Isn't that supposed to be different now that she's in space?

She thinks about the suggestion a moment, "An illusion might help. Something to make you sort of glowy."
albatrossomen: (Green eyes)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-02-01 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh he's going to love watching this. Might as well go all out, right?

He smirked, huffing his amusement softly. "I am most certainly not going to stop doing that," It's part of the job! A key part, one might argue. That and it's half the fun, the passively difficult to remember ability is very useful for one who likes to fly under the radar.

"I am certain I can conjure something convincing. So, where are we putting on this display? I shall consider how thorough I shall be in this act in the meantime." He'll figure out a properly disturbing show, enough that they'll not want to ask her questions after the fact.
sinkthe8ball: (you think so)

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-02-01 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
If it helps sell it yes he should go as all out as he wants. She's not going to tell him he can't have fun with this. (She's going to regret that isn't she?)

"Don't blame me when you keep getting jerks sending people like me to hunt you down then." The only good part was it did provide some level of challenge to tracking him down, but that doesn't mean she's ready to admit that. So she'll stick with her initial statement. It'll probably happen again on yet another planet one day.

"I have a meet set up for when the job is done. They have someone watching it to send word if and when I show up." Hopefully, they don't keep her waiting too long she hates that. "I'll probably have to drag you at least part of the way for realism."

albatrossomen: (Mapping stars)

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-02-01 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
She's probably going to regret this. It will, however, be very effective, so she surely can't be too upset with him for being thorough and enthusiastic.

He offers a faint shrug. "To be expected, I am unconcerned. I must say I am impressed that you tracked me down, is this a common duty for you?" He's definitely going to be bumping up his hard to follow game for the future. Now that he was aware skilled hunters might be on the case.

"Very well, do as you must. We'll convene somewhere closer when you're ready." To avoid causing too much fuss he'd rather not be playing horrific corpse in the middle of public streets after all.
sinkthe8ball: (of course)

[personal profile] sinkthe8ball 2021-02-02 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Probably, but it won't be the first time or last time she regrets a decision. Regrets are kind of part of being human. But he'd be wrong in thinking she can't be upset with him. If there is one thing she is very good at it's being unreasonably upset over somewhat trivial things. She's just gotten better at masking that bit from those that don't know any better.

"There aren't a lot of devil hunters where you're from are there?" Which is to say yes tracking down the difficult to track is a common thing she does. And she does it well. Sometimes a little too well. It's both gift and curse what can she say.

"Let's get this over with then." She'd rather avoid sending civilians screaming and calling for authorities if at all possible herself. Her line of work is best kept secret and paid in cash. And she doesn't want to find out what the inside of a Kupra City jail looks like either.

[personal profile] albatrossomen 2021-02-15 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Regret is important for learning, so long as one can adapt from the lesson. Otherwise it's nothing more than a futile waste of energy to repeat the same hassles time and time again. Of course, she's welcome to try being upset with him, it probably won't have much impact... not that she's unaccustomed to being ignored.

"Oh, there are some. Is that your profession, then?" He's just usually better at evading them, mostly because he's not locked to one place like he is at present. It's very disconcerting. Murmur simply gestures for Lady to lead the way, smirking faintly before he simply disappears all together. At least, from her sight. He'll be following as promised, devising exactly what kind of show he's going to put on for the benefit of her employers.

Regrets and mistakes two of humanity's best traits. She likes not doing stupid things though, which keeps her day eventful as opposed to straight-up tired. She doesn't have to try it'll just be sadly. Until it isn't which is its own form of her ultimately getting over it but it takes forever.

She gives it a moment and then shrugs. No point in denying it. "Yes." she offers as she starts heading in the direction of the meet point. the silence of his feet would be unnerving if it weren't something she was already used to. And while she might at another time look back to check he was actually following her she figures he has as much to gain from helping her than by leaving her to deal with whoever meets her. Just this once she's going to trust, don't screw her over.

Regrets and mistakes are how they grow, Murmur is distinctly aware. That said there are times when he thinks they choose not to, repeating the same mistakes again and again. It isn't his place to guide them, no matter how distressing to watch.

Fortunately Murmur is good on his word, he's just chosen to take a few moments to himself so that they would not be seen traveling together. Such could be suspicious, if anyone were to bear witness. As it is he will be there, ready to put on his best "dying ghost" act just for her and her customers upon reaching the rendezvous point. Hope they're all ready for a show.
