a bumpy start! {glyphcomm + action}
You wake up to the sound of alarms and a distinct sensation of quaking, and you're quite obviously not where you're supposed to be. This room is strangely shaped, nothing you recognize, and you definitely don't remember how you got here. The room is bathed in soft red light, which might look pretty, except it's blinking in a way that you can probably guess signals danger.
There's a symbol on the back of your hand that you don't remember acquiring, either, but that's probably less important at the moment than the sound of the alarms shrieking and the prerecorded voice speaking over the intercom. It's one of those bland, agender voices, entirely too calm in tone for the message it's relaying:

IMPACT THREAT DETECTED
EVASIVE ACTION REQUIRED
There’s a loud crash and another violent shaking, as that impact threat collides with the ship’s hull. The warning message continues to repeat on a loop amidst the blaring of the alarm. All passengers should be conscious now, with the noise at such a high volume. Opening your cabin door reveals a nondescript hallway, with five cabin doors on each side for a total of ten on each floor; the doors to the empty cabins are unlocked and inside the cabins hold the same plain, basic furnishings as your own. Halfway into the hallway, there is a lift on one side and a set of stairs on the other.

“Well,” Tim starts, eyebrow raised, “I guess you could always take up knitting. You never know when you’ll end up on an ice planet, wishing for a nice, cozy scarf.”
That’s right, he’s dipping into the sarcasm now. He shrugs.
“Up to you, though. I hear working with two needles can be difficult - maybe crochet’s more your speed?”

But his expression is one Tim would probably recognize as deeply unamused and serious.
"So do nothing. Right."

“No,” he says, with a shake of his head, “not nothing. Navi takes strength from the emotional connections of their passengers - the stronger the connections, the more power they have. So if you want to help speed the journey along, what you can do is form emotional bonds with the other passengers. Get to know them, take an interest in them on a personal level.”
In other words, befriend them.

Jon doesn't say he won't do it though. He just has to have a little time to warm up to it. But initial thoughts? Would possibly rather die (ha).

“Well, no one’s going to force you to play nice, but fair warning, you will be paired with another passenger.” He holds up the back of his hand to the camera to show the glyph marked there. “You’ll have a mental link with whoever it is, too. It takes some getting used to, but if you can find a way to work together, it’ll be less frustrating for both of you.”

He hesitates for a second, mulling that information over. "...You said you've done this before. Do you know how often it happens? Or what will happen to us?"

Arrived nearly dead and convinced he was actually dead, but there's no need to include that detail.
"What will happen to you is that you'll travel with Navi for a while until they make it back to their home base. They've got a kind of portal machine, and it should send you right back to where you're supposed to be. You just need to help Navi get there." Thus the advice to make friends and give Navi that boost.
"You'll probably see a lot of weird things along the way, but if you all stick together, you should be fine."
