Uh guys? I'm pretty sure that this whole 'Twig Man' thing? Is Slenderman. Like the creepypasta meme that definitely became a thing a few years ago for me and then became even more well known when a couple of preteen girls who were extremely mentally ill thought he was real and that they needed to end up sacrificing their friend to him.

Slenderman is a nightmareish overly tall man who wears a suit and has no face and who in the story was often found around tragedy involving children. He was supposed to show up in pictures and on video. This is probably really, really bad. Be careful if you do go looking. Seriously. If he's around he can make you sick, like physically ill. And not only that but he causes electrics to go shorting out and we don't know what that might mean considering we're connected to our partners and Navi.

But none of it sounds like a good idea.

Do we know for sure they were kidnapped? They could’ve just run off.

Maybe they just went on a long camping trip without telling anyone? That’s pretty normal childhood hijinks, right?

Oh, come on, why would Slenderman eat children?

You can't always believe what the myths say, you know. For example - have you heard the one about Medusa?

cw: rape mentioned

Cool, so you know that Medusa was a hideous monster with snakes for hair and could turn men to stone with just a look. Thank Zeus that Hero Perseus came along and chopped off her head, right? Well, the part of Medusa’s story that most people haven’t heard is that before she became a monster, she was a beautiful priestess of the goddess Athena. And do you know what happened to her? She was raped, in Athena’s own temple, by the god Poseidon, and Athena did absolutely fuck-all to stop it, despite Medusa’s pleas for her to intervene. And then, as punishment, the goddess cursed Medusa and turned her into the monster she became.

[it’s an all-too-familiar sequence of events, for jack and her people. heroes are the victors who carry the legacy of monsters forward with stories twisted to frame themselves as good and monsters as evil.]

Monsters usually don’t live long enough to write their own stories into myth and legend. So don’t believe everything you hear.

[jack just sighs loudly.]

I'm not disputing that. I'm just saying, the reasons may not be as nefarious as you're assuming. Hashtag not all monsters.
