Video: Persephone
[The short goddess is in the garden, walking through it while she takes a sip from a particular looking flask that's shaped like a silver ring. The amount she slugs seems like it should be draining it of all the liquor but then she takes another sip before she wanders over to one of the blank places in the garden. Her finger touches the soil. For a second, nothing seems to happen, and then there's a sprout of what looks like a bush. The little sprig keeps growing and twisting until it becomes a tree that is above her head. As the branches spread out, red leather looking fruits spill out of it. Yes, this garden is lacking in pomegranates and Persephone has taken care of it. But she doesn't look at all happy when she takes a sip before speaking.]
Don't know how the hell ya pulled me from Hadestown considering what I am, but I need to be going back. I've got to try and convince my ass of a husband to spare the boy.

Having just arrived from my own universe’s underworld, that really is the question of the hour, darling. How.
Nice fruit, though. Definitely making me nostalgic.

[Persephone considers that.]
Guess that means you ain't someone it'd be any easier to steal than it would be to steal me. 'Course if we're in the stars it makes sense.
And it's somethin' to remind me of home. Glad it reminds you of it too. Persephone.

He must be a real charmer, to have captured your attention.
[ See what he did there? Oh, he's laying it on thick. ]

Mortals. [Letting out a snort, Persephone just takes another sip off of her flask.]
That husband of mine ain't ever been as young as you are. He was an old man even when the world was brand new.
no subject
[ He spends more time in the bathroom in the mornings than a lot of women do. ]
no subject
I know you are, brother. I can tell.
[Our Lady of Weighs and Means and all of that. Once upon a time, before there was Hadestown and it's wall, Persephone had judged people. While she ain't judging him, she knows when someone has eyes that are far older than their face.]
If you're from a world that's Monotheist, then you ain't from mine.

And yet - I know who you are! Because my universe has stories about you! I love the multiverse sometimes. When it's not being a pain in the arse, that is.
no subject
[That whole kidnapping and rape thing, when Persephone had gone with her husband willingly and the two of them had set the world spinning.]
Have ya had much experience with the multiverse before this?
no subject
And only a little, I've known a few mortals particularly well-versed in the sorts of powers that can cause trouble in the multiverse. Actually got a total reset once, no thanks to some wanker in a trenchcoat.
It's a bit much, even for a celestial being such as myself. I'd've rather stayed put, even if I was in Hell. I chose it, but not for the same reasons you did, I imagine.

[ He sighs. ]
I abdicated, which left them without a king, and without a king, they started getting ideas above their station. As in, going up to Earth and harming innocent living humans. So, I had to take my throne back.
[ Long story short. And, you know, there was love in there too. ]
no subject
Sounds like you could use a drink, brother.
no subject
[ He pulls his own flask out, opens it up, demonstrating that - yep, it's empty. ]
Unfortunately, mine doesn't refill itself.
no subject
[She's definitely not hitting on him, it's a legitimate offer.]
no subject
[ He wants to compare himself to other universe's Hellish rulers, obvs. ]
no subject
[Persephone just snorts.]
I can tell you've never met him. But I'm in this... garden thing.
no subject
[ SMILE! ]
I'll be right there!

Are you all right?

[Just gonna add another swig.]

That's a neat ability. With the flowers.

It-no. He switches to video]
Which one.
[He snorts. Thinking about it.]
no subject
I know ya can read, brother.
no subject
Years and years ago andl ook how that turned out.]
My apologies. It's a lovely tree and that's a lovely dress.
no subject
It's all his doing. Things that if he gives me things that are rare and expensive it'll fix 'em. He's an idiot.

I don't think even the Elder Seedseer has that kinda magic. What was that?
And why's your husband tryin' to kill a boy?
no subject
[And Persephone is just gonna cheers to that.]
And he's convinced for some reason that I'm gonna go Up top someday and never return Down Below. Damned fool of a man, thinking that me lovin' him is gonna change when I ain't changed since the world began.
no subject
[And back to conversational tones:] Can you not stay Down Below with him?
[Unspoken question: what is Down Below and how is this her life that she's talking to gods and not-quite gods in space?]
no subject
And no I can't. Cause when I'm in Hadestown, the sun refuses to shine and nothing would grow and the humans die.
no subject
That's certainly a difficult arrangement you have with your husband... Sadly it seems we're all trapped here for a time.
no subject
And I've been trapped since the damn world started spinning, I ain't too keen to do it again for no reason.

[Not that she's thinking of her Daddy, but she's definitely thinking of her Daddy.]
