"I am become death, the destroyer of worlds" [Locked to Simon]
Who: Simon and Richard
What?: Richard post Alex Argument and 18 hours of listening to Seasons 1&2 of the black tapes.
Warnings: Drunkenness, yelling, talks of infidelity (possibly), talks of child abuse (possibly), demonology, witchcraft, black magic
The first time Richard Strand got black out drunk he was at Wayne's house and Wayne had swiped a bottle of his dad's Jim Beam. The two of them drank and Wayne made fun of him for being a nerd good naturedly and Richard who had been trying to help him with his homework laughed and called him an idiot good naturedly and then he'd cried about his mother and his father and how hard it was being the man of the house.
The second time he'd gotten black out drunk was in college and Amber Kowalski who would go on to be the mother of his daughter had apparently spent the evening making sure he didn't drown in his own vomit or piss himself or embarrass himself because Priest boy has a reputation to maintain.. That was when he'd commented about him not believing in God, about God never being real and she was an idiot for believing it. Three days later he'd moved in, one month later he'd knocked her up, nine months later she was dead because oftentimes maternal mortality in relation to childbirth just couldn't be avoided and he was a single father.
He did not like to get drunk and forget but he desparately desparately wanted to because he could not think of a single reason why Alex Reagan would fake any of that because otherwise how would she know about any of his transgressions and with the wounds of Coralee in his mind and of hurting Alex he wanted it all to go away.
He especially wanted the heightened sense of awareness to go away, he wanted his brain to stop telling him where she was on the ship, to stop telling him where everyone was, to avoid the image in his head of Tanis smirking at him kindly because one could smirk kindly he did (he thought he did).
The moment he senses someone behind him, expensive scotch in his hand, he licks his lips before growling.
"Go away Simon. I know it's you."

"What do I have to do." He tries to focus, "Is it drink more?"

"Sober up. I'll come for you later." He's going to do it the spooky ghostly way, and Richard's going to hate it but you know what? It works.
