Help wasn’t what Jon was hoping for - he would hate himself more if Murmur followed after him and also came to harm. Jon could’ve mentally called out for Murmur, perhaps even prayed for the angel to find him. But powerful though Murmur is, he’s also outnumbered by the machines. And it’s more than Jon who is at risk here - Navi themself, the rest of their passengers, even the resistance on the other side of the wall are all in danger by extension.

He can’t help thinking about that month he spent as Nikola’s captive at the wax museum, how Michael found him there with the intent to kill him, how he’d calmly accepted death as his fate then. He’s been just outside of death’s reach for so long - wasn’t it bound to catch up to him one day?
